The new VW Jetta can look back on a history spanning 26 years in Germany. At the beginning the Jetta was the notchback version of the Golf and was equipped with the same technology. This is the reason why pundits regarded the Jetta as faceless. The most recent model, however, proves the contrary. The latest version of Abt Sportsline, the Volkswagen specialists from Kempten, demonstrates its doubtlessly strong character, in particular. The Abt Jetta VS4 is a sporty limousine that convinces with values such as power, looks and driving pleasure.
On the basis of the 2.0 TDI engine, Abt Sportsline has developed a power upgrade for the Jetta boosting the overall performance to 170 HP and 370 Nm torque. This is a plus of 30 HP and 50 Nm compared with the standard engine. The Abt Jetta VS4 tackles the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 213 km/h. Thanks to the power upgrade which is achieved by optimizing the motor management the Bavarian model possesses an outstanding torque curve and excellent responding qualities.
The suspension of the Abt Jetta VS4 is also designed for a sporty manner of driving. With increasing strain, the progressively operating sport suspension springs show tighter spring characteristics and grant excellent roadholding though maintaining close-to-standard comfort for every day use. By lowering the body by as much as 40 mm, the Abt Jetta VS4 looks far more vigorous.
Also optically the Abt Jetta VS4 appears considerably sportier than its standard counterpart. However, Abt Sportsline’s aerodynamic parts are very discreet matching the vehicle. The newly designed front spoiler gives the Jetta a marked face and the broad side skirts make the car look more dominant on the road. The rear spoiler and the 2-pipe rear muffler with a diameter of 76 mm give proof that this is not the standard model.
The Abt Jetta VS4 is equipped with Abt Sportsline’s brand new light alloy wheel AR and tyres of technology partner Continental in the size 235/35R19. The one-piece wheel in the classical five-spoke design is diamond-machined and demonstrates sportiness and elegance on the car.
The new Abt Jetta VS4 on the basis of the 2.0 TDI doubtlessly is a strong character. Especially the non-obtrusive but nevertheless very dynamical optical features and the power boost convert the Bavarian model into an attractive sporty limousine. |
